Tennis is one of life's entertainments whether playing it or watching it. I technically learned to play tennis when I was student at University of Georgia, though not as a student activity but as a result of a friend I had in Athens.  I never excelled at it however. But I know from that experience that tennis, both watching it and playing it, is the be all and end all for some people.  This sketch is acrylic on 8 x 11 watercolor paper in sketch book. This is not a real person but the tennis wear is as women tennis players usually wear.  It was good practice for me because I am trying to learn to paint in a sense of movement in the human-like figures and that is a skill unto itself.

This blog has a theme of events in life or situations that make people happy--no ulterior motive or complicated theme.

and I realized today that might confuse people. I also have other blogs that i categorize as : prolife; teaching gospel; teaching public health; displaying art so you might enjoy some of those also. I am not trying to deceive anyone. There seems to be much confusion on web about who I am, [Google search my name and you will see some of the problems] but I am U S citizen and law abiding and trying  to be productive and helpful to others by sharing art, knowledge as RN, and gospel.

Zoos are one of Life's entertainments sketch by Gloria Poole

I, Gloria Poole, drew this from a photo that was tweeted to me the other day. You see my handwritten notes on it, to prompt me how to paint it later.  I was looking at computer screen and drew the basic drawing in ink, then painted it the next day. This is acrylic on 8 x 11 inkjet paper because that was the paper I had in my desk when the tweet with photo appeared. I thought it was a great image because I have never seen a camel that close up.  Of course, I signed this and photographed it and uploaded it for this blog with theme of events and things and people that give pleasure to life. I think zoos are wonderful. One of the most wonderful zoos is in Omaha, Nebraska ! I love that zoo. Also, I improvised /painted a logo of sorts and it's barely adequate but I like it better than what was there. So cope with it for time being. I might design a better one when I get around to it. 

There are zoos all around the world of course. And there are what is called "petting zoos" where you can have a close encounter with an animal and touch it, pet it, even feed it in some cases.  

This is just a fun blog, no ulterior motive or serious theme. Just a blog to add content too of things that make me smile hoping they make viewers/ readers also smile.

Making music is one of life's entertainments sketch by Gloria Poole of Missouri, 13 July 2014, watercolor on 9 x 12 paper.  That is my left hand holding the left corner to try to prevent edge from curling.  Obviously this sketch shows a time of the Christmas season, but making music is a year round event for some people.  I studied singing and sang with the high school chorus while the band accompanied us, and that was one of the most fun times of my life. I still love to sing, but I have cried so much for so many years [secondary to events in Colorado that caused permanent injuries to me; and events in Missouri when someone tried to run over me with vehicle that caused more injuries to me] that my voice is damaged so I can't sing much now.  But I love music if it's real music and not just too loud music with screaming and hysteria! Also, this is only the preliminary sketch.  I may repaint it in acrylics to make it bolder brighter. Also, I photographed this on my portable drawing board and that is a lamp shade you see behind it to the right.  

Also, obviously music festivals happen mostly in the warm weather months.  But music and celebrations of any sort go hand in hand.  Of course, you know the #WorldCup is happening now, and I am thinking how to illustrate that but want to see who wins it first.  I think #Germany will win.  It's an event I would like to have attended today for the final match.  So maybe I will post my sketch or painting of World Cup when I get it more firm in my mind what part of that huge event I want to paint, and get it accomplished.

Also, remember for entrepreneurs and maybe artists also, being entertained is a different experience.  I thought about that as I read this article.  I studied entrepreneuship at the #universityofgeorgia as part of course work for a business degree so I understand much about it.  I think entrepreneurs don't tend to seek day long events that are mainly for pleasure. I am also a Registered Nurse licensed in Missouri, an artist in all mediums, a photographer, a poet, writer, prolife activist, blogger, personhood promoter, and a republican.

Bird watching is one of life's pleasures

I, Gloria Poole, residing in Missouri, but born in state of Georgia, added the two sketches in watercolor that I drew, painted, signed, photographed and uploaded to this blog of mine. These are Lake of the Ozarks' blue herons and they are fascinating because , well, look how they look in flight--like some gangly teenager with  big Adam's apple and big feet flying through the air. They look like they couldn't fly in other words.  Look at the sketch of heron standing in edge of water and see how big the body looks and how long the legs are. It looks all out of proportion ! Like legs too skinny neck too long body to big but it flies! It is fascinating to me. 


Bird watching is an entertainment and it's a favorite pastime of many people. Some people, particularly in Asian countries will spend lots of money and travel long distances to watch whooping cranes, and other rare birds.

Festival Music sketch by Gloria Poole of Missouri and Georgia; 12 June 2014; acrylics 

In keeping with the theme of this blog, of showing in some way good events or places or things that are entertainment for most people, I drew and painted a sketch today and named it "Festival music".  Festivals or any sort almost always have musicians there [lucky for all]. And I have been to festivals all over state of Georgia [Oktoberfest, coastal, near Callaway Gardens] , and  in Scotland [Hogmanay] , and in Missouri [pumpkin patch], and hope to go to many more. They are usually 2-3 days , over a week-end, and a day long event of many scheduled bands, singers, dancers,  and crafts and arts for sale, and usually food is served of a variety of ethnic groups. Festivals are GREAT fun. Any time you see one advertised, plan to go even if only for a short while. They are down to earth FUN.

I, Gloria Poole, of Missouri am creating this blog because I have had this account since about 2006 and let it sit idle most of the time. Now, I have to do something with it. When I began this account, I was morphing the public access TV show I had when I lived in Denver, CO to the internet to try to make peace with my then-husband. Things only got worse and I suffered a lot of violence against me, injury and pain since. Sometimes it does not help to try to appease a man whose entire life's principles are diametrically opposite of your own. That second marriage ended in divorce  in Oct 2007 when the Baptist Church there began to pray for GOD to do something to save my life from destruction, and after much injury to me  [fractures, concussion, lost years, lost content I created [well. not lost; content I created was stolen there from me].   After that second divorce,  I resumed my maiden name  of Gloria Poole; and I moved from Colorado to Missouri in Oct 2009 after I had attended various hearings in various courtrooms [as  a witness or creditor]. 

Then I sort of forgot all about this account until recently when I was looking through my paper notebooks for something else.  And found the information I had written about this account. I began a simple site for this and it is on web at:<P>

Then I couldn't quite decide what to do with this account. I didn't want to let it go, because it has a history sort of. I do not have a TV show now. I don't know if I ever will again. But who knows? I have many reasons for wanting to get the attention of the public: the prolife cause of saving baby humans from destruction, painting as artist and needing to find museums and collectors to buy art I create, reciting poems I write. Any of those could bring about interviews and or a TV show on public access channel again someday. So, I decided to keep this account and just start again with it.  I think I will make the theme of this ways of making people think about how they could enjoy life and where, by maybe creating art to make them see life differently. It's a work in progress so I will create it as I go, and it may morph in time.

Now as to the meaning of this sketch. A peninsula is a portion of land that juts out into the water whether on  a bay on the ocean, or a lake. It is connected to the land at the end of it sort of like a tail on a kite.  So, most of the peninsula is surrounded by water and as it makes the turn water is on the other side of it also. I thought a house on a peninsula would be the best of both worlds. The owners and or residents of it could swim, sit on beach and watch the boats, fish from dock, picnic on dock,  boat from their own landing, have fish fries in the sand, sit and watch the stars. etc, etc, etc. So, it could be would be great entertainment. So much better than an urban setting 24/ 7/ 365  , surrounded by pavement and concrete, and cars whizzing by too fast for pedestrians, and the heat that pavement and concrete emits in the hot summer months.  This is simply a sketch in acrylics on 9 x 12 paper that I drew, painted, signed , photographed and uploaded today.  I also have other blogs and I categorize them by function: some are prolfe; some are mostly for art I create, some are for teaching the gospel, and some are just for whatever I want to post to them such as words I write, poems and art I create also.
